About the Artist: Christiane Papé
Journey, Inspiration, and Vision
Painting is the essence of my existence and the source of my “joie de vivre”.
I was born in Geneva, Switzerland, where I grew up and completed my studies at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts. I then started my travels in Europe and the United States. I always carry with me an acute sense of observation. I take visual snapshots of scenes in my mind that I wish to transpose on canvas.
I’m a lover of nature lover, especially flowers. I am at my happiest in my garden and studio.
I create exotic flower paintings where I perceive natural elements that go far beyond a strictly visual sensation. I rarely sketch out a painting beforehand. My brush takes over and I translate that memory with urgency and fervor onto the canvas. It is an explosive impulse to transpose my feelings onto a medium.
I have worked with various media such as acrylic, pastel, collage, and oil, leading her to master many innovative techniques. In the end, I am most comfortable with acrylic.
I resided in Manhattan for 37 years, dividing my time between Sherman, CT. I create most of my works there surrounded by nature and tranquility. In 2009 I moved back to my home country and now live in the picturesque lakeside of Lugano, Switzerland, constantly surrounded by beauty.
My paintings have been included in major public and private collections in Rome, Geneva, Paris, London, and New York, as well as several museums.
